Several mountain lion sightings were reported in the city of Gilroy this week. Officials with the Gilroy Police Department said today that the reports came from Christmas Hill Park and Uvas Creek Levee Trail. The California Department of Fish and Game reminds people visiting local parks and hiking around levee trails, not to approach or otherwise disturb mountain lions that they may encounter. Instead, officials warn people to avoid the animal and report the sighting to their local law enforcement agency. By reporting the mountain lion sightings, Fish and Game officials say they are able to analyze the mountain lion’s movements for tracking purposes.
