MAN SENTENCED IN TRANSIENT’S DEATH 07-07-10 13:00 a.v.

A man charged with the death of a homeless man nearly 2-years ago at a Salinas truck stop, was sentenced today to community service. Orion Christopher Moore is expected to be on probation until his 4-hundred hours of community service, which also includes working with the homeless, is completed. Moore, who pleaded no contest to the December 2008 incident involving a 60-year old transient, is charged with causing the man’s death after inadvertently knocking him down, causing him to suffer fatal head injuries, while refusing his services to wash his car’s windshields. Moore’s assault charge was lowered from a felony to a misdemeanor during sentencing.
