S.C. ATTEMPTED MURDER ARREST 07-07-10 12:00 a.v.

One of 2 suspects was arrested last night after a shooting occurred in the downtown area of Santa Cruz. Police received a report that shots were heard around 10 p.m. on Sycamore Street between Center Street and Pacific Avenue. Officers arrived on the 6-hundred block of Pacific Avenue, about 2 blocks from where the shots were heard, to find a male with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, a Santa Cruz man was reportedly walking to work when he was approached and attacked by 2 men. Officers were able to find and arrest one of the suspects, a Watsonville gang member, 21-year old Cameron Anthony Diehl around 1 a.m., meanwhile the 2nd suspect, a man in his late teens to early 20’s, is still being sought. Diehl was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, gang participation and a probation violation.
