SEIU Furlough agreement 6/20/10 TDH

Members of Santa Cruz County’s largest public union voted to approve new contract stipulations last week.   About 16-hundred workers represented by Service Employees International Union, or S.E.I.U., agreed to take 15 unpaid furlough days in the next fiscal year, which begins July 1st.   That’s 2-more days than union members took off this year.   The union also agreed to a wage freeze, however county leaders agreed to cover any increase in health insurance costs.    The 1-year-contract is estimated to save the county about 7.1-million dollars, and the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors is expected to give its final approval on Thursday.
