A community meeting held in Santa Cruz this week allowed residents to provide feedback about the upcoming Soquel/Morrissey Auxillary Lane Highway-1 project. About 25 people gathered last night to voice their opinions on the 22-million dollar widening project of Highway-1 between Morrissey Boulevard and Soquel Avenue. Residents expressed their concerns over “losing the look” of Santa Cruz as hundreds of trees and bushes are about to be cut down to expand the highway and build a new bridge at La Fonda Avenue. The project includes building an extra lane in each direction between the 2 streets and landscaping. The work is expected to take 2 years to complete.
