S.C. County Cuts 6/15/10 TDH

Yesterday(mon), the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors voted to reduce funding to non-profit organizations for the upcoming fiscal year, however the cuts are less than had been proposed.   Supervisors had been considering cutting the 3.4-million dollar allocation to the county’s 48-supported non-profits by as much as 20-percent.   A preliminary cut of 12-percent was instead agreed upon.   Santa Cruz County is facing declining revenue for the 3rd year in a row.   20-percent cuts to the Health Services Agency and Human Services Department were agreed to, as were smaller cuts to the Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s office.   All the proposed cuts are scheduled for a final vote on June 24th. Supervisors are scheduled to continue working on budget matters all this week, as they try to close a 17-million dollar deficit.
