A new women’s center is being built in Watsonville. The 20,000 square foot Grace Harbor Women’s Center is being constructed on Brennan Street. The hope is to have it open by the end of the year.
In half of the building, they plan to have 42 emergency overnight shelter beds for homeless and at-risk women (and women with children), and in the other half they plan to have a free residential recovery program for women with “life controlling issues” such as drug and alcohol addiction and mental health struggles. They plan to also provide meals, showers, clean clothes, bus passes, educational support, work and life-skills training, and case management.
