New Scanners for Contraband at Monterey Jail 11-20-18 06:20 DC

Two new body scanners are in use at the Monterey County jail. The scanners, which can peer inside prisoners’ bodies, are intended to keep narcotics, weapons, and cell phones out of the jail.

Previous scanners only showed objects on the surface. The new scanner cracks down on people who insert drugs or contraband inside their bodies.

The new scan lasts about eight to ten seconds. Every inmate processes at the jail is scanned.
