The public’s assistance is being sought to help name a newborn penguin. Folks at the Monterey Bay Aquarium have narrowed it down to 4 names, and they’d like people to vote on which name they like best. The 4 names for the little female penguin are: Beck (in honor of John Steinbeck); Bixby (for the iconic Bixby Bridge in Big Sur); Cypress (after the native Monterey Cypress tree), or Watson (short for Watsonville….which is home to many of the staff, volunteers, and visitors…and also one of the Aquarium’s Teen programs).
