New Law Protects Teens Charged-10/1/18-1845-PMD

 

A bill signed into law by the governor stops teens 15 and under charged with felonies from being tried as an adult.  The new law directly affects a Santa Cruz murder trial. Adrian Gonzales who was 15 when he allegedly assaulted and murdered 8 year old Maddy Middleton, had been ordered to be tried as an adult. Gonzales’ case will now be sent back to juvenile court. The family of the victim plans to challenge the new law.
