NEW BRIGHTON MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE WORKING ON COLLEGE LEVEL ENGINEERING PROJECTS AFTER SCHOOL HOURS , ON FRIDAYS. A VOLUNTEER-RUN ENGINEERING CLUB FROM CABRILLO COLLEGE IS HELPING THE STUDENTS UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS OF ENGINEERING AND HOW TO WORK AS A TEAM. THE STUDENTS ARE FIRST GIVEN LECTURES ON LESSON PLANNING, AFTER WHICH DIFFERENT TEAMS PERFORM HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES. THE TEAMS ARE THEN AWARDED PRIZES FOR THEIR EFFORTS, NOT FOR PERFORMANCE AS ONE MAY EXPECT, BUT FOR HOW WELL THEY COMMUNICATED AND WORKED TOGETHER.
