The Monterey County branch of the NAACP has issued a request to Seaside city officials. The organization is asking to be a part of the hiring process for a new police chief. Recently, Chief Robert Jackson resigned as he was placed on administrative leave following his reposting of a politically and racially biased article on a social media site. The NAACP is also calling for citizen review committees and other protocols.
