MONTEREY CITY COUNCILMAN ALAN HAFFA, AND HIS WIFE ARLENE, WILL APPEAR BEFORE THE CITY’S PLANNING COMMISSION TODAY (TUES). HAFFA IS APPEALING A MONTEREY PLANNING STAFF RULING TO ALLOW THE BUILDING OF A HOUSE NEXT TO HIS MONTE VISTA NEIGHBORHOOD HOME. THE PLAN TO REPLACE AN EXISTING SMALLER HOUSE LISTS THE PROJECT AS A SINGLE-STORY DWELLING. THE HAFFA’S SAY THE REDESIGN IS STILL A TWO-STORY BUILDING AND NOT IN LINE WITH THE REST OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE ISSUE HAS ALSO BEEN BEFORE THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE AND A CITY-COMMISSIONED THIRD PARTY-REVIEW.
