A couple of mountain lion sightings were reported in Monterey county on Monday. The first sighting came early Monday morning, when a jogger spotted the cat in the cielo vista area of Monterey. about an hour later, someone saw a mountain lion near the marina airport, at imjin and reservation roads. It is unclear if the 2-people saw the same lion, or if they were different cougars. Neither reported the animals displaying aggressive behavior, so no official action was taken. Mountain lions, also known as “cougars” and “pumas,” are protected in California, (unless they are threatening someone).
