MAY IS MOTORCYCLE SAFETY MONTH. THERE WERE ALMOST 12 THOUSAND MOTORCYCLISTS INJURED AND OVER 400 DIED IN 2011. THAT WAS CLOSE TO A 20 PERCENT RISE FOR FATAL ACCIDENTS IN CALIFORNIA FROM 2010. ALTHOUGH THE 2012 STATISTICS HAVEN’T BEEN FULLY COMPILED. THE FIRST 9 MONTHS SHOW A SLIGHT DECREASE IN THE DEATH TOLL FROM ACCIDENTS COMPAREDTO 2011, BUT THE C-H-P SAYS DRIVERS CAN DO BETTER. THE STATEHAS OVER 1.3 MILLION REGISTERED MOTORCYCLES AND FUEL COST HIGH, MORE DRIVERS ARE TURNING TO MOTORCYCLES FOR TRANSPORTATION. THE C-H-P URGES MOTORCYCLIST TO TAKE A SAFETY TRAING CLASS LIKE THE ONE OFFERED THROUGH THE DMV, AND FOR ALL DRIVERS TO BE MORE AWARE OF THE TWO WHEELED VEHICLES.
