A 36-year old mother was struck and killed this moring, by a car on highway 156 near Castroville. The woman, identified as Veronica Brumley, had stopped to help drivers who had pulled into the shoulder of the eastbound lanes. After checking on them, she was struck by a Toyota sedan. The driver did stop at the scene; the incident is under investigation by the California highway patrol.
