1 person died, and another was injured, in a Sunday evening hit-and-run crash in Morgan Hill. An off-duty officer who witnessed the accident followed the suspect after he left the scene. Edgar Benitez Martinez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail. The man who was declared dead at the scene of the crash on Tennant Avenue, was a 37 year-old Gilroy man. His juvenile passenger was transported to an area hospital.
