July 25th marked the 3rd anniversary of the beginning of the Soberanes Fire in Big Sur. At the time it was the most expensive wildfire to fight, and it was caused by an illegal camp fire (that someone set and then walked away from). Illegal camp fires have once again been cropping up all over the Big Sur area . Right now, firefighters are working to quell 2 fires in south Monterey county….one is near the Highway 1 end of Nacimiento-Ferguson Road, while the other is closer to Lockwood and the Highway 101 corridor.
