Federal legislation was introduced yesterday that could help small businesses and non-profits. The Safe Re-Opening Tax Credit Act, is designed (if approved, and signed into law) to create a tax credit for those. Businesses with up to 1500 full-time-equivalent employees, or which had less than 41.5 million dollars in gross receipts last year, would be able to get a 30 percent tax credit (up to 15,000 dollars) on covered expenses through the end of the year.
Some of those businesses could include: libraries, food banks, zoos, aquariums, restaurants and hospitality, as well as retail, arts and entertainment.
