A Monterey woman pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol. 23-year old Calista Garcia, who was driving on a suspended license on January 19th, crashed her vehicle on Highway-1 near Point Lobos killing a Sacramento man and injuring his passenger. This is the 2nd time Garcia has been charged with drunken driving in the past 6 months. If convicted, Garcia’s previous convictions could be used against her on the new charges. A conviction on current charges could mean 10 years in prison for Garcia, who faces a preliminary hearing next month.
