Monterey County Reopening Status by School District

  • Alisal Union School District: Plan not submitted but planning for a gradual reopening. Town Hall Meeting happening Wednesday night.
  • Big Sur Unified School District: Already opened under old waiver system with all K-12 on campus.
  • Bradley Union School District: Already opened under old waiver system with all K-5 on campus
  • Carmel Unified School District: Plan submitted to health departments
  • Chualar Union School District: Unknown
  • Gonzales Unified School District: Plan not submitted or finalized. The issue will be taken up at the March 9 or March 23 board meeting.
  • Graves School District: Plan submitted and no plans even for hybrid at its single K-8 school, which is hosts 36 students in two classrooms.
  • Greenfield Union School District: Plan not submitted but will be discussing plans to move forward at March 11 board meeting.
  • King City Union School District: Plan not submitted but working towards bringing back K-5 and possibly 6th grade at the middle school initially. Expecting complete plan in a week’s time.
  • Lagunita School District: Plan not submitted but workings towards bringing back K-2 initially.
  • Mission Union School District: Unknown
  • Monterey Peninsula Unified School District: Plan not submitted but working towards bringing back youngest students first.
  • North Monterey County Unified School District: Plan not submitted. Priority would be to first bring back cohorts of vulnerable students grades TK-12, followed by TK-K students, then 1st and 2nd grade.
  • Pacific Grove Unified School District: Plan not submitted and up for discussion at Thursday night’s board meeting.
  • Salinas City Elementary School District: No plan submitted and the district is working to completing a COVID Safety Plan and finalize its Memorandum of Understanding agreements with Labor Unions.
  • Salinas Union High School District: High School only district and not allowed to reopen under state guidelines.
  • San Antonio Union School District: Received waiver and has posted Plan
  • San Ardo Union School District: Opened K-6 under waiver in October and is using this Plan.
  • San Lucas Union School District: Received waiver and has K-5 on campus under this Plan.
  • Santa Rita Union School District: No plan submitted and is waiting on educators to get vaccinated before reopening.
  • Soledad Unified School District: No plan submitted but working towards a hybrid approach.
  • South Monterey Co. Joint Union High School District: Unknown
  • Spreckels Union School District: Plan not submitted working towards bringing back TK-2 at earliest opportunity and upper grade levels 3-5 weeks later if TK-2 is successful.
  • Washington Union School District: Unknown
