Last weeks storm kept first responders busy all over the Central Coast. Typical calls involved fallen trees with and without downed power lines, flooded roadways and clogged storm drains were also frequent. In some cases fire crews received help from prison inmates that filled and transported sand bags to areas that required protection from runoff. The Monterey Peninsula’s Cypress, Carmel Highlands, and Pebble Beach fire protection regions were the busiest with over 100 calls handled in a 24 hour period.
