A murder trial of a man accused in a 16-year old Monterey County teen homicide, got underway this week. Jury selection began yesterday for the trial of Jacobo Ruelas. Ruelas is accused of killing Monterey High School student Kristopher Olinger on the Pacific Grove recreation trail in 1996. Prosecutors allege Ruelas and his younger brother Angel robbed Olinger, stabbed him repeatedly and then stole his car. Jacobo, who was arrested seven years ago, pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
