Monterey County has released new data on the county’s vaccine allocation and administration programs.
The county data shows that 9% of North County is vaccinated and makes up 12% of the population. Peninsula and Big Sur have 46% vaccinated and make up 31% of the population. Salinas has 35% vaccinated and makes up 38% of the population. South County only has 11% vaccinated and they make up 18% of the population.
Among those aged 65 and older who have been vaccinated, data on ethnicity and race shows that Latinos are underrepresented. The county says it is trying to get vaccines to people who have been hit the hardest by the Covid-19. They say that includes the older population but also Latinos and farmworkers.
