OF THE 127 EXECUTIVE PARDONS GOVERNOR JERRY BROWN ISSUED CHRISTMAS EVE, FIVE WERE FOR PEOPLE PROSECUTED IN MONTEREY COUNTY. ALL FIVE PARDONED TUESDAY HAD BEEN CONVICTED OF DRUG POSSESSION OR SALES IN THE 1980S OR EARLY 1990S, AND MOST WERE SENTENCED ONLY TO PROBATION OR SHORT PRISON TERMS. THE FIVE MONTEREY COUNTY PARDONS GRANTED TUESDAY WERE FOR EDITH LOUISE BROWN, VINCENT ANDREW LUCIDO, BONNIE M,ATTHEWS, JOHN PATRICK O’NEIL THE 3RD, AND JULIO CEZAR SANTOS-PARRA. BROWN SAID IN A STATEMENT THAT ALL OF THE 127 PARDONED THIS WEEK HAVE SERVED THEIR SENTENCES AND HAVE BEEN CRIME FREE FOR OVER 10 YEARS, ALSO ADDING THAT THOSE GRANTED PARDONS HAVE LIVED PRODUCTIVE AND LAW ABIDING LIVES FOLLOWING THEIR CONVICTION.
