MONTEREY COUNTY OFFICIALS ARE WARNING THE PUBLIC OF A JURY DUTY SCAM. THE NOTICE WAS ISSUED AFTER A PACIFIC GROVE WOMAN REPORTED SHE RECEIVED A SUSPICIOUS PHONE MESSAGE. ON THE MESSAGE, A MAN IDENTIFYING HIMSELF AS A LIEUTENANT TOLD THE WOMAN SHE MISSED JURY DUTY AND THAT THERE IS WARRANT OUT FOR HER ARREST. THE CALLER ALSO SAID SHE HAD TO PAY A 500-DOLLAR FINE. THE MONTEREY SUPERIOR COURT REMINDS THE PUBLIC THEY WILL NEVER ASK FOR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS OR FINANCIAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE.
