MONTEREY COUNTY HAS RECEIVED A FEDERAL GRANT TO ADD MORE BICYCLE LANES. THE 2.7-MILLION DOLLAR GRANT WILL PUT LANES ALONG A NEARLY 2-MILE LONG STRETCH ON DAVIS STREET. ACCORDING TO THE TRANSPORTATION AGENCY OF MONTEREY COUNTY, DAVIS STREET IS A HIGHLY TRAVELED ROUTE FOR BICYCLISTS COMMUTING FROM SALINAS TO THE PENINSULA. THE AGENCY’S GOAL FOR THE NEW LANES IS TO GIVE EQUAL ACCESS TO CARS AND CYCLISTS.
