The Monterey County CHP is leading a seatbelt campaign that started yesterday.
The campaign involves public awareness with bilingual outreach and stepping up enforcement now until the end of this week.
This year alone, nearly 27-percent of those killed in motor vehicle crashes were not wearing their seatbelts.
Over 18 police agencies throughout the Monterey County area are working together to assist with enforcement.
As part of this campaign, the California Highway Patrol would like to remind drivers and their passengers to “Click it or ticket”.
