An armed standoff today in monterey ended without violence. Monterey police officers responded to an armed robbery of the Ordway drug store, which turned quickly into a standoff when 30-year-old brett edward vossler ran into the nearby old monterey café. A s.w.a.t. team was called, after vossler barricaded himself in a bathroom. The café was evacuated, and the man was eventually taken into custody, after losing consciousness. He had been attempting to rob the drug store of morphine and painkillers, and was believed to have been under the influence of drugs at the time. alvardo street was closed during the standoff, and was re-opened at about 1:30 p.m.
