A Seaside man has been arrested on attempted murder charges in Monterey. The incident took place Saturday night near Municipal Wharf 2, patrol units responded to reports of a brawl involving up to 20 people. At the scene police learned that a man had attempted to use a handgun but it had misfired. He then fled the area but was apprehended nearby. 20 year old Gustavo Chavez was booked into Monterey County jail on two counts of attempted murder, one count of resisting arrest and a parole violation. A 2nd suspect remains at large.
