Monterey city leaders have approved a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The 2012-2013 operating budget totals 103-point-2 million dollars, and includes an increase in travel expenses for council members, and increases funding to non-profit organizations. 59-point-6 million dollars was set aside for the city’s general fund. There were no layoffs in the new budget, which increases general spending by point-4 percent. The new fiscal year begins on july 1st.
