A Monterey man has been convicted of first degree murder after a fatal stabbing 3-years ago. 24-year old James Torrey Hill was found guilty after stabbing Matthew Paul Finnigan in the back with a 5-and-a-half-inch carving knife at Hill’s Cassanova Avenue apartment on September 22nd 2010. Hill pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but a jury found him legally sane when he murdered Finnigan. Hill will be sentenced on January 8th when he faces 26-years-to-life in prison.
