AN ANNUAL FIREWORKS SHOW WON’T BE LIGHTING UP THE SKIES IN APTOS THIS YEAR DUE TO HIGH COSTS AND LOW ATTENDANCE RATES. THE MONTE FOUNDATION FIREWORKS SHOW WAS CANCELLED BY MARC MONTE, THE PRESIDENT OF DELUXE FOODS AND THE SHOW’S CREATOR, WHO SAID IT WAS TIME TO CALL IT QUITS FOR THE ANNUAL OCTOBER FUNDRAISER. THE MONTE FAMILY CONTRIBUTED $40,000 LAST YEAR; AN AMOUNT HE SAYS WAS INCREASING EVERY YEAR IN AN EFFORT TO KEEP THE $100,000 EVENT GOING. THE FIREWORKS SHOW OPERATED AS A FUNDRAISER BY SCHOOLS AND YOUTH GROUPS WITH PROCEEDS GOING TO LOCAL SCHOOLS AND NON-PROFITS.
