The Monterey county health department has been selected by federal officials, to receive funding for a youth violence prevention project. The funding from the center for disease control and prevention is expected to cover a 5-year period. The 4-point-5 million dollar award will be shared with 3-other public health institutions around the county. The goal of the so-called “Strive program” is to allow the helath departments to test programs and treatments to reduce youth violence.
