11 LOCAL PROGRAMS ARE SLATED TO RECEIVE 1.6 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. THOSE PROGRAMS, SUCH AS SHELTER PLUS CARE, CLEAN AND SOBER SHARED TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, AND THE SALVATION ARMY WATSONVILLE CORNER HOUSE ARE DESIGNED TO ASSIST HOMELESS PEOPLE. THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT HAS SET A GOAL OF ENDING CHRONIC AND VETERAN HOMELESSNESS BY THE YEAR 2015.
