The Monterey County Sheriff’s office has charged two county jail inmates with drug possession. 40-year-old Sang Quoc Tran and 45-year-old John Melendez are facing felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in Jail charges after being found with methamphetamine on Saturday. Tran is serving a sentence for obstruction and criminal threats, while Melendez is in custody on drug and gun charges.
