A kayaker was rescued from the rocks near Monterey’s Cannery Row on Friday. Shortly after noon, rescue personnel were alerted to a man clinging to a rock after losing control of his kayak. A lifeguard was able to make it to the 28-year-old researcher for the Hopkins Marine Station, and pull him to safety. It was the second water rescue that week. On Wednesday, a kayaker rescued an unconscious diver from the same area. The diver regained consciousness on the way to the hospital and was released after a medical examination.
