When they meet tomorrow, members of the Monterey County Planning Commission are expected to consider a battery energy storage project in moss landing. The project calls for the installation of 270 lithium-ion Tesla-produced Mega-Pack units……that have a capacity of up to 730 mega-watt hours. The Elkhorn Battery Storage Facility would be constructed on about 4.5 acres at the P.G. & E. substation in Moss Landing. County planning staff members have already determined that the site and design would not impact views from Highway 1, and that the plans for the project include adequate mitigations to minimize impacts on biological and cultural resources.
