A MOTION FOR A MISTRIAL WAS DENIED THIS WEEK FOR A 30-YEAR OLD MONTEREY COUNTY MURDER CASE. ATTORNEYS FOR HOMICIDE SUSPECT 53-YEAR OLD UBALDO SANCHEZ FILED THE MOTION AFTER A WITNESS IN THE CASE ADMITTED TO COMMUNICATING WITH A JUROR DURING A COURTROOM BREAK. THE MISTRIAL WAS REQUESTED ON THE GROUNDS THE WITNESS, CYNTHIA LORENZI UNFAIRLY SHARED A MOMENT OF CAMARADERIE WITH THE JURY. SANCHEZ IS SUSPECTED OF FATALLY SHOOTING 32-YEAR OLD MANUEL SANDOVAL, IN A SOUTH MONTEREY COUNTY RANCH IN MAY OF 1982.
