A military flare, that was found near Asilomar Beach in Pacific Grove today, has been detonated. The phosphorous flare, which was first described as a “suspicious canister”, was found in the 14-hundred block of Sunset Drive. As per protocol, the area was secured and the U.S. Air Force E-O-D Bomb Squad was called in. They said such flares are commonly used by the military for water search and rescue drills, and operations.
