A 23-year old San Jose man was arrested in Morgan Hill on New Year’s Day after he crashed his Mazda 3 into a pregnant woman’s car, injuring her. Police say Esteban Sanchez was driving under the influence, when he drove into the woman’s vehicle on East Dunne Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. before he drove away and smashed into a fire hydrant on Butterfield Boulevard at Barrett Avenue. Sanchez attempted to flee on foot but was caught and arrested on multiple charges including suspicion of felony hit and run, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. The pregnant driver was hospitalized with injuries.
