A burial and memorial service is planned today for the unofficial mascot of the Santa Cruz Harbor. Lucy-the-Goose was found dead Monday morning on the banks of the upper harbor, where Port District officials believe she was attacked by another animal while guarding her nest. A memorial is planned today at the site of Lucy’s favorite hangout at 6 p.m., on the west bank of the North Harbor near the Murray Street Bridge.
