Just like last spring, many school districts are still providing meals for their students during the academic year….even though the kids are ‘distance learning’. In the Alisal Union School District in Salinas they offer meals to ALL enrolled students, whether they would normally be part of one of their school lunch programs or not. Meal distribution (which began yesterday) is taking place Monday through Friday, from Noon until 1:30 p.m., at all 12 schools in the A-U-S-D.
Parents can either walk up to pick up their student’s meals or they can drive up to the curb.
There are plans to expand the program to a 2 meals-a-day program, and there are also plans in the works that could lead to some meals being delivered to homeless students, as well as those with Special Needs, and children who are in daycare.
