A new report released today shows the homicide rate amongst young adults in Monterey County is the highest in the state. According to the report, called, “Lost Youth: A County-by-County Analysis of 2009 California Homicide Victims Ages 10 to 24, Monterey County ranked number one in youth homicide victimization in California. The report found the rate of 31.24 homicides per 100,000 in Monterey County is nearly 3 times the overall state average.
