A group of monterey county residents is threatening to file for an injunction against the county. That’s because county elections officials are adding to the vote tally 234-absentee ballots that were received on Wednesday morning. The group “citizens for responsibility and ethics of monterey county” is objecting, arguing that any ballots not received on election day by 8 p.m. are not to be counted. Elections officials maintain that the ballots were postmarked on time, but were misplaced at the san jose post office. They will be counted, unless a judge intervenes.
