Due to last week’s winter storm, Governor Gavin Newsom has issued an Emergency Proclamation for both Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties. That proclamation means that Cal-Trans can formally request immediate assistance from the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program. The washed out portion of Highway 1 at Rat Creek, about 15 miles south of the town of Big Sur, was given as an example of ‘significant damage to infrastructure’.
