Although Monterey county crop values were down in 2016, the top 3 agricultural money makers were, as usual, leaf lettuce, strawberries, and head lettuce. Wine grapes went from 8th to 6th place, with pinot noir, and chardonnay the dominant varieties. Even though the overall value was down, Ag Commissioner Eric Lauritzen says he’s not worried about the numbers as the overall trend has continued to grow.
