MCO BOYS/GIRLS CLUB RECEIVES GRANT 10-27-10 10:30 a.v.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Monterey County received a $325,000 grant to expand the group’s Gang Prevention services. Through the grant, awarded by the Department of Justice, children at risk of gang involvement, some as young as 7 years of age, will now be able to take part in a one-on-one mentoring program. The federal funds will also help mentors work with parents, schools and community. The gang prevention program is said to expose the youth to academics, technology and the arts.
