May 9, 2017: Verdict in Sierra LaMar Murder Case will be Announced Today

(07:45) Santa Clara – Jurors reached a verdict yesterday in the trial that accuses a Morgan Hill man of killing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar five years ago.   Antolin Garcia-Torres is accused of taking LaMar while she was walking to a bus stop.  Prosecutors reported that LaMar’s DNA was found in Garcia-Torres’ car, and his DNA was found on the teenager’s clothes.   If Garcia-Torres is found guilty, he could face the death penalty.  If the jury decides that Garcia-Torres is not guilty, he can not be retried even if new evidence appears.  The verdict will be announced at 9 a.m. today in the Santa Clara Hall of Justice.
