(06:56) MONTEREY COUNTY – A Salinas Valley State Prison inmate has been found guilty of multiple charges stemming from two attacks at the facility in 2012 and 2015. In the first incident, 56-year-old Mario Torres attacked and stabbed an inmate numerous times. The victim’s injuries rendered him paralyzed. Three years later, Torres stabbed another inmate multiple times in the neck. The man has since recovered from his injuries. Torres was charged with assault, inflicting great bodily injury and illegal weapon possession. He was convicted this week and faces an additional sentence of 105 years to life when he returns to court June 8. (S.G.)
